The Alliance for Conflict Transformation (ACT) was founded in May 1999 by a group of individual peace activists committed to working together to provide skills and knowledge in the area of conflict resolution and peacebuilding. The ACT is a non-governmental organization and aims to develop and strengthen the mechanisms for peace in Cambodia. It builds the capacity of practitioners in the area of peace and conflict resolution through education programs, cooperation and networking; after carrying out a number of peacebuilding training program, ACT was registered as organization in 2002 with Ministry of Inferior.
Multiple Approaches for Conflict Transformation (MACT) fund by HEKS International-Cambodia as service provider was conducted training module II on the “Conflict Intervention and Transformation” with HEKS partner in three provinces (SOFDEC in Kampong Chhnang, SACRED in Prey Veng and AK in Pursat).
On May 25-27, 2015 ACT-MACT Project was conducted the ACT-MACT training module II on “conflict intervention and transformation” at Century hotel Pursat province that have 43 participants (13 ladies) with 01 district officer, 07 commune councilors, 04 police, 04 AK staffs, 07 chief village, 18 AK from CBOs at Kravanh district. On 30 -31 March till 01 April, 2015 was organized at Vimean Neak Thmey hotel, Kampong Chhnang province with 43 participants (13 ladies) 01 from commune chief, 3 commune councilors, 01 police, 02 SOFDEC staffs, 13 chief of village, 23 SOFDEC CBOs from several districts in Kampong Chhnang. On April 06-08, 2015 conducted at Prey Veng province with 38 participants (13 ladies) 01 from department of lab-training, 01 department of woman affair, 01 district representative, 06 SACRED staffs, 02 chief of commune, 02 commune councilors and 25 CBOs of SACRED.
At the training module II we provided and shared some lessons as introduction to conflict intervention and transformation (intervention theories “conflict management, conflict resolution and conflict transformation”, compatible in conflict, critical thinking, traditional conflict resolution, and respond to conflict), Communication skill (Listening and questioning, paraphrasing, resentence and summaries), counseling skill, intervention skill and conflict resolution (negotiation, mediation, reconciliation, Active Non Violence “ANV”).
During the training most of all expected that they could gain knowledge about the conflict intervention and conflict transformation, have capacity to resolute any conflict in my commune, the processing of the conflict transformation, more knowledge about the theory of the intervention and the counseling to use their communities. From this training we observed that participant at Pursat province and Kampong Chhnang, they quick to learn from training. However, all the participants from three provinces they could reflect with asked questions, shared their ideas and feedbacks to trainers during the training, especially during the group discussion, role play and presentation they really have high commitment to complete it on time, have good team work and shared their ideas without scary. As well as at the evaluation, most of their commitment to take their knowledge to apply personally and integrate in implement at their communities, in case if there is any problems such as domestic violence, land dispute, mistrust, and fishery conflict. They hope that they will bring back the success story of change for share to ACT specially share among their team in next training or meeting.
